Philadelphia, PA (PR) -- The number of people affected by diabetes is growing literally by the day.  In fact, there are over 30 million people in the United Sates who have diabetes, up 13% over just three years ago.

Of the three types of diabetes, the most common is type 2, where the pancreas does not function properly and glucose levels fall outside the normal range.  Problems occur when blood sugar levels are too high for too long.  Common side effects of sustained blood sugar levels include heart disease, vision problems, and kidney damage.

Another cause of diabetes is related to obesity and overweight.  “I have helped many people get control over their weight and avoid pre-diabetic risk factors,” says Kevin Brown, President of Visionary Trainers, a professional personal training company whose team of 42 personal trainers travel to clients homes in the Philadelphia and tri-state area.

Obesity and overweight populations are on the rise, affecting 70% of the US population.  “The overweight and obesity epidemic is largely caused by diets rich in processed fats and sugars coupled with a sedentary lifestyle,” Brown says.

“Because there are so many inaccuracies in the marketplace, people truly do not know how to overcome pre-diabetic, blood pressure and chronic disease risk factors, not to mention how to quickly and safely lose excess weight,” says Brown.   Brown reports that by making some lifestyle changes consisting of a supervised exercise program, gaining education from the right sources and a sensible nutrition plan, diabetes risk factors can be controlled.

Brown teaches clients how to properly regulate one’s blood sugar by eating real foods rich in Vitamin A and D as well as avoiding inappropriate processed foods which often make the problem worse. “Truly healthy nutrition choices combined with the right levels of exercise can make a positive and profound impact on the quality of one’s life,” says Brown.
